Corinth Weekday Preschool
It's our desire that your child develop as a unique individual with a positive sense of who he is
and of what he is capable. We seek to provide a supportive environment with a balanced plan
of activities, which help your child grow socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically in a
church environment.
Our preschool follows the Hickory Public Schools calendar.
One year-old class
Lead teacher: Tiffany Sloane
Assistant teacher: Melissa Shuford
The one year old class focuses on children learning through play and
exploration of the world around them. We sing, dance, color,
finger-paint, and read books. We also do crafts during the
holiday seasons. Our goal is to provide a warm Christian
environment for your child to grow and learn.
Two year-old class
Lead teacher: Jana McIntosh
Assistant teacher: Lori Trimm
We have been having a fun first half of the school year! The children have learned our morning routine
and have adjusted well. It is amazing how much they have grown physically, socially, and intellectually
in the past five months. We can't wait to see the difference in May!
The two year olds are very active
throughout the morning. We have free play, circle time, snack, outside play, and crafts. Some of their
favorite activities are outside play, painting, and play-doh. This year the two year old class went on
their first field trip to the St. Luke's Pumpkin Patch. It was a great success! The children loved playing
with the pumpkins and were so excited to pick out their very own pumpkin.
Three year-old class
Lead teacher: Danielle Cummings
Assistant teacher: Kathy Reece
The three year old class is a busy one. This year they have studied transportation, "all about me", bugs,
spiders, bible stories, and fire safety, among other topics. The children are learning to recognize
and write their own name, recite the "Pledge of Allegiance", and are having a lot of fun as they learn.
The threes have been able to participate in three field trips so far: the Hickory airport, and two
pumpkin patches. The three year olds are fortunate to also have Spanish lessons once a week, a visit
from the Science Center once a month, and Church Chapel once a month. It is only the first half of the
year and they have so many more great activities to do and learn.
Four year-old class
Lead teacher: Kristy Childers
Assistant teacher: Tara Davis
The four year old class has been busy learning our letters, the alphabet cheer, calendar, seasons, and our
weekly themes. We have enjoyed visiting two pumpkin patches and the Hickory Airport. We look forward to
singing in church at Corinth in November and seeing a Christmas play in December. The four year old class
is a SUPER class!
Transitional Kindergarten
Lead teacher: Laura Owens
Assistant teacher: Sharon Davidson
We have Spanish lessons once a week and have a visit from the Hickory Museum of Art once a month.
Additionally, we have Preschool Chapel once a month.
