Our support staff is made up of hard-working, dedicated individuals who are committed to the mission and ministry of Corinth. You may not see these folks very often, but you’re certainly enjoying the fruits of their labors every time you step on our campus.


Barbara is originally from Ohio, but has been in North Carolina for almost 31 years.  She and her husband Gary lived in Charlotte and Greenville, NC before coming to the Hickory area about 20 years ago.  They have a daughter, Richelle, who grew up at Corinth who is now part of a mission team with YWAM (Youth With a Mission). About 15 years ago, Barbara left a successful career in the corporate world in response to a very strong call on her life to serve the Lord. She feels very blessed and humbled to be part of Corinth Reformed Church and to be a staff member where she can serve the Lord every single day.

One of Barbara’s favorite passages of Scripture is Proverbs 19:21 – “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

JAN CALDWELL – Financial Secretary

Jan and her husband Jerry have a grown son, Jay (wife Heidi). She is the proud grandmother of Paige (9) and Brayden (7). In her free time, Jan enjoys baking, reading and fitness… especially walking outside.

One of Jan’s favorite passages of Scripture is Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

MELISSA SHUFORD – Childcare Coordinator

Melissa was born in Dalton, GA and moved to Hickory around age 6. She attended Hickory City Schools and graduated from Hickory High. She attended Appalachian and earned a B.S. in Industrial Psychology with a management concentration. She is married to Ron, and they have a son, Ethan, who is 15. Melissa enjoys live music, working out, and reading. She has been working at Corinth since 2003.

One of Melissa’s favorite passages of Scripture is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

JOE LIPPARD – Facility Manager

Joe is a native of Statesville, NC and began working in church at age 7.  He holds a degree in Business Administration and Computer Programming.  He came to Corinth shortly after graduating college, hearing the Lord’s call to ministry.  Joe has served his home church in the positions of Board Chair, Financial Director, and Organist.  He has a great love of sacred music and is presently an organ student of Prof. Florence Jowers.  Joe also possesses a vast historical and structural knowledge of Corinth’s facilities and operations.

One of Joe’s favorite passages of Scripture is Psalm 111:2-10.

LISA PROPST – Kitchen Manager

Lisa was born and raised in Hickory. She graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne with a BA in Accounting and Business Administration. She is married to Scott, and they have two children — Sarah, a freshman at UNC Chapel Hill, and Christopher, a sophomore at Hickory High. Lisa has been feeding Corinth for 15 years. As Kitchen Manager, she is responsible for comprehensive management of Wednesday Night Dinners and other events. In her free time, Lisa enjoys flower gardening, sewing, photography, camping, and is an avid supporter of the Hickory High School band and (very recently) the Tarheels.

One of Lisa’s favorite passages of Scripture is John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

DEBBIE HEAVNER – Kitchen Assistant

Debbie was born and raised in Hickory. She graduated from St. Stephens High School, and then attended Lenoir-Rhyne, where she earned her B.A. in Business Administration. Debbie lives in Bethlehem with her husband, Lee. Their son, Taylor, is an Eagle Scout who is currently studying forestry at Haywood Community College. Debbie owns three Subway restaurant franchises, and is actively involved with Boy Scout Troop 250 (at St. Luke’s). Her long-time best friend, Lisa Propst, is Corinth’s Kitchen Manager, and the two have been working together since January 2016.
